Durante la semana del 12 al 16 de julio nuestra iglesia celebro la primera Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones. La oficina de la iglesia estaba decorada para parecerse a una selva tropical, pues el tema de la escuela bíblica era Sonquest Rainforest (Sonquest, la Selva Tropical). Durante esta semana alrededor de 20 voluntarios dieron de su tiempo para ayudar a un promedio de 35 niños por día. Los niños participaron en actividades como, ver videos, bailar, cuentos bíblicos, artes y artesanías, meriendas que ellos mismos decoraban, y más tarde actividades y juegos al aire libre. En el primer dia nos centramos en la historia del Agricultor y sus Semillas. Los niños aprendieron que tenían que ser como la buena tierra, que es el corazón que acepta, ama y obedece a Dios, por lo tanto produce muchos frutos buenos. En el segundo día los niños ayudaron a encontrar la oveja perdida y aprendieron cuan importante son en realidad para Dios nuestro Pastor. Al tercer día los niños aprendieron que tienen que ser amables con TODAS las personas sin importar como esa persona los tratara a ellos. Esto lo aprendieron después de escuchar la historia del Buen Samaritano. Al cuarto día se les enseñó a los niños que ellos deben orar y seguir orando y no darse por vencido cuando necesitan algo de Dios. Aprendieron esto despues de escuchar la historia del hombre persistente que le pedia pan a su vecino. Nuestro quinto y último día fue uno de los mejores. Los niños aprendieron que deben usar los talentos y dones que Dios les da, para que le sirvan a El, o Dios se los puede quitar. Después de la historia bíblica, el tiempo de artesanía y hora de la merienda, los niños fueron llevados a jugar afuera. Los voluntarios y los ninos todos jugaban juegos como "Duck, Duck, Goose; Chickens and Wolves", Simón dice y otros juegos que mantuvieron a los niños riendo y divirtiéndose en grande. No tengo ninguna duda que disfrutaron más con lo que ocurrió después. Todos los voluntarios sacaron cubos llenos de globos de agua, nuestro Pastor, Jesús Gerena, entonces le dijo a todos los voluntarios que se pararan al lado de la pared. Los niños entonces comenzaron a tirar los globos de agua a los voluntarios, con la ayuda del Pastor, hasta dejarlos empapados. Ellos realmente disfrutaron al ver a los voluntarios tratando de esqivar los globos de agua! La venganca de los voluntarios contra el Pastor vendra pronto, tenemos pensado usar nieve! Terminamos la noche con pizza de Dominos, bailes y cantos.
Durante toda la semana los niños cantaban canciones, bailaban, reían, jugaban, comían bocadillos sabrosos y, en general realmente se divirtieron. El verano del 2010 fue nuestra primera Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones y fue todo un éxito! No podemos esperar para el próximo año!
During the week of July 12-16 our church held the first annual Vacation Bible School. The church office was decorated to resemble a rain forest because the theme of VBS was Sonquest Rainforest. During that week about 20 volunteers gave their time to help an average of 35 kids per day. The kids participated in activities such as watching videos, dancing, bible story time, arts and crafts, snacks that the kids themselves decorated and later activities outdoors. On our first day we focused on the story of the Farmer and his Seeds. The kids learned that they had to be like the good soil which is the heart that accepts, loves and obey's God, therefore producing a lot of good fruit. On the second day the kids helped find the lost sheep and learned how important they truly are to God our Shepard. On the third day the kids learned that they must be kind to ALL people no matter what after hearing the story of the Good Samaritan. The fourth day taught the kids that they should pray and pray and not give up when they need something from God.This lesson was learned after hearing the story of the Midnight Knocker. Our fifth and final day was one of the best. The kids learned that they must use the talents and gifts God gives them, to serve Him, or they may be taken away. After the bible story, craft time and snack time the kids played outside. The volunteers joined in and played Duck, Duck, Goose; Chickens and Wolves, Simon Says and other games that kept the kids laughing and enjoying themselves. I have no doubt that they enjoyed what happened next even more. All the volunteers brought out buckets full of water balloons, our Pastor, Jesus Gerena, then told all the volunteers to get against the wall. The kids started attacking us with water balloons until we were drenched. They really enjoyed that! We will get Pastor back for that one, we have snow in mind! The night ended with Dominos pizza and more singing and dancing.
All week the kids sang songs, danced, laughed, played, ate tasty snacks and overall really enjoyed themselves. 2010 was our first VBS and it was a complete success. We can't wait for next year!
